Reiki One

Originating in Japan, Reiki is a form of healing energy that promotes physical and emotional well being.

The best way to understand Reiki is to look at the meaning of the Japanese terms that compose the word.

  • Rei – is often translated as ‘light energy.’  It may also be interpreted as ‘all that is,’ in both thought and form.
  • Ki – is translated as ‘life energy.’  In practices such as Tai Chi, Chi Gong or Yoga, it is referred to as Chi, Qi and Prana. The focus of all of these practices is to revitalize life energy and utilize it with conscious intention.

In Reiki, a practitioner activates Rei or light energy to balance, revitalize and heal a person’s Ki or life energy.

We are born with an innate ability to heal. When you undergo First Degree Reiki Attunement you are able to dial in those natural abilities more sharply; in the same way that the tuning dial on a radio grants access to a static-free signal of your favorite station.

What You’ll Experience

There are three, sequential degrees of Reiki attunement. This one-day, first degree intensive will be a combination of information and interaction.

You will learn about key parts of the human energy system i.e. auras and chakras. You will also learn how to activate various aspects of this energy system so that you may act as a conduit for healing energy.

In the afternoon, you will be initiated (or attuned) – a process that everyone experiences in a unique way. Once initiated, you will have the opportunity to practice short Reiki sessions on yourself and/or consenting classmates.

Who Should Attend

All humans can derive benefit from First Degree Reiki. It can enhance meditation practice and be used for purposes of self-healing.

You do not need to possess any special skills or talents and there are no prerequisites required to attend.

Reiki is a particularly useful adjunct for anyone working in the healing arts field with people or animals. Some examples include:

  • Nursing
  • Massage Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Chiropractic
  • Hospice
  • Veterinary fields
